Summertime, and the living is easy–and so is your basic oral health routine! Don’t let the lazy summer days lead to lazy oral hygiene habits. Here are a few tips to remember during these hot summer months.
The first thing to do is keep up on the basics. Brush your teeth for two minutes, twice a day, with a toothbrush that has soft bristles. Floss or use an alternative interdental cleaner once a day for 2-3 minutes each session. If possible, finish the cleaning with an ADA approved mouthwash.
Remember to wear a mouthguard when you participate in activities that can threaten your smile, such as contact sports or extreme sports. The mouthguard can help protect teeth from dental emergencies while you enjoy the fabulous summer weather and activities.
Take care of your smile while you’re traveling. Remember to pack your oral hygiene tools in your suitcase! This can help you avoid dental problems while you’re on the road. Don’t forget to pack some ADA approved sugarless gum. This may help keep you from snacking unnecessarily, and will help clean your mouth between meals and brushing.
If you use our tips, there is a high chance you can maintain a top-notch smile and excellent oral health.
