Meet Our Doctor
Everett J. Eklund, DDS
Dr. Everett J. Eklund’s passion for his patients and dentistry is obvious from the moment you walk into our office. His sincerity for wanting to help people achieve optimal oral health while feeling good about their smiles helps our patients feel at ease. When Dr. Eklund took over his fathers’ practice in 2003, he wanted to build lasting relationships with his patients and provide an environment where they feel comfortable, heard and respected. His goal is to guide each patient through their dental journey and restore their smile so they can live confidently.
Dr. Eklund is a native of Washington County, and happy to call Hagerstown his home. He attended Loma Linda University in California where he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree. He is a member of the American Dental Association® (ADA), the International Academy of Mini Dental Implants (IAMDI), the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD), the Washington County Dental Society (WCDS) and the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation (DOCS). In addition, he is certified in Advanced Cardia Life Support (ACLS) and has completed a Nobel Biocare Implant Dentistry Residency.
In his spare time, he enjoys sports, reading and spending time with his wife and two daughters.

MEET THE TEAM
Claudia – Comptroller
Claudia is our comptroller at Potomac Dental Centre, and she loves numbers. Her experience includes working as a physicians’ accountant at Inter-Medic Medical Center to 60+ physicians. Claudia measures productivity of our team and doctor. She has her Bachelor of Arts degree in Business with her emphasis in accounting. She has been working at our Hagerstown, Maryland, dental practice since 2003. Claudia is very thorough and attentive to all of the office needs and truly cares about the team and the growth of the dental practice. She offers balance and foresight and always looks for ways to make us all a better team.
Claudia has been married for over 25+ years and has 2 beautiful daughters and a dog. She enjoys time with family and friends.
Susie – Office Manager
Susie started working at Potomac Dental Centre in 2003. She graduated from Allegany College with her Associate of Applied Science degree in dental hygiene, and has also completed a Bachelor of Arts in Communications with an emphasis in public relations. She has been a hygienist since 1999. In August of 2017 Susie became the office manager. She takes care of marketing, and patient relations and continues to fill in for hygiene when needed. Susie is passionate about dentistry and enjoys working closely with patients. Susie enjoys spending time with her husband, son and dog in her spare time.
Elsa – Office Coordinator
Elsa moved from Arizona to Maryland in May 2014. She started at Potomac Dental Centre in August 2014 in sterilization and clinic area maintenance, and soon after started to assist the dentist chairside. She has her Maryland radiation license, Expanded Function license and is a Qualified Dental Assistant. In June 2017 she shifted her role to work in our front office as our Office Coordinator. She is a very helpful asset to the practice, a team player and willing to learn new things. She enjoys the field of dentistry. In her free time, she likes to spend time with her family, friends and three dogs.
Liz – Insurance Coordinator
Liz grew up in Fairplay, Maryland, and currently lives in Clear Spring where she raised her family with her husband of 25+ years. Liz joined the Potomac Dental Centre family in March 2019. She started working in the dental field as a surgical assistant at an oral surgeons office in 1992. She has a love and passion for dentistry. With her wonderful background in dentistry she has been able to offer a wonderful expertise on all avenues of the dental field. She currently helps out the patients and the team with insurance knowledge. Along with daily tasks of the front office she brings great joy to all the people she is in contact with. She is an amazing team player and always has a positive attitude. She enjoys volunteering in her community, boat rides, time with her family and three dogs and cat.
Rachel –Scheduling & Patient coordinator
Rachel started working for Potomac Dental Centre in September 2019. She has worked in the dental field for a couple years and is very passionate about the dental field and our patients. She has taken the role of coordinating our schedule and front office duties. She has been a huge asset in our overall dental office with her bright personality and willingness to help and learn new things. She is currently furthering her education, majoring in business management. In her free time, she loves spending time with her family and friends, and enjoys DIY projects.
Dental Assistant Team
Katie – Lead Dental Assistant
Katie joined Potomac Dental Centre in the fall of 2012. Katie received her dental assistant training at Hagerstown Community College. She has her Maryland radiation license, became a Qualified Dental Assistant and also has her orthodontic assistant license. Katie is extremely thorough when she assists patients, and her soft-spoken demeanor reassures patients that they are in good hands. Katie leads our lab and ordering for the entire office.
In her spare time, Katie enjoys spending time with her husband and two kids.
Courtney – Dental Assistant/Social Media
Courtney joined our team in July, 2015. She attended Hagerstown Community College for her dental assistant training. She has her Maryland radiation license, Expanded function license and is a Qualified Dental Assistant. She was an assistant for over 10 years and recently took on the role of our social media/marketing coordinator. Courtney provides enthusiasm and a positive attitude no matter if it’s working on her marketing or helping on the clinical side of things. She is our local community representative.
In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends. She’s also a photographer.
Apryl – Dental Assistant
Apryl joined Potomac Dental Centre in May 2019. After graduating from dental assisting training school in 2017, Apryl began working as a dental assistant. She has her certifications in radiation from Maryland and in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). She has always been drawn to the dental field and is currently working towards furthering her education.
Apryl has a calming demeanor that helps patient’s feel at ease, has a strong work ethic and is an amazing team player. In Apryl’s free time, she enjoys spending time with family and her puppy. She is up for anything outdoors, sports and trying new things.
Lindsey – Dental Assistant
Lindsey joined Potomac Dental Centre in April 2019. She has been a dental assistant for over nine years and is a Certified Dental Assistant. She is passionate about her profession and loves being a dental assistant and working directly with patients.
Lindsey has a wonderful nature that is pleasant and strives to do the best she can in all facets. She is a great team player who gives it her all to provide the best care. In her free time, she enjoys gardening, anything outdoors and spending time with her family.
Penny – Dental Assistant
Penny joined Potomac Dental Centre in November 2019. She has been a dental assistant for 19 years. Penny has her expanded function training in dental assisting. Her knowledge and experience in the field of dentistry enriches our team. Penny loves working with patients and helping restore their smiles. Her chairside manner is comforting, which helps even the most fearful patient. She is a team player and is always willing to learn new things to advance her skills.
Penny was born and raised in West Virginia and has three kids. She enjoys kayaking, hiking, reading and spending time with her family.
Dental Hygiene Team
Lindsay – Dental Hygienist
Lindsay has been a hygienist with since September of 2014. She graduated from Allegany College of Maryland with an associate’s degree in applied science. Lindsay has been in the dental field since 2003, starting out as a dental assistant working her way to a hygienist. Lindsay enjoys educating her patients on all dental topics but mainly focuses on their home care and how they can have great oral hygiene. She considers herself to be very gentle but thorough.
In her free time, Lindsay enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She is very adventurous and enjoys most outdoor activities (even the occasional sky diving adventure).
Michelle – Dental Hygienist
Michelle has been a dental hygienist at Potomac Dental Centre since January 2019. She graduated from Allegany College with an Associate in Applied Science degree in Dental Hygiene. She loves educating patients and helping them enjoy their smiles. She loves to learn new things. She has completed her certification in Local Anesthesia and administration of Nitrous Oxide in the state of Maryland. She has received a National Dental Hygiene Hero Award for Community Service. In her spare time she enjoys time with her family and anything that is outdoors- skiing, hiking, swiming, biking, running and sprint triathlons.
Denise – Dental Hygienist
Denise joined our team in February 2020. She graduated from Allegany College of Maryland with an Applied Science Degree in Dental Hygiene in 2009. She has experience in general dentistry as well as pediatrics. No matter what age, she loves educating her patients, helping them achieve optimal dental as well as overall health! Her amazing and positive attitude brings warmth to our patients and team. Being a team player, not only does she bring a hygiene skill set, Denise has the gift to write and helps put together information for our patients and team as we continue to evolve and grow.
Denise is also a children’s book author and Autism advocate. But first and foremost, she is a mom. Her spare time is spent with her family, her husband and three children! She says there is never a dull moment at her house but that she wouldn’t have it any other way.
